    • According to PayScale, the national average yearly salary for a teacher assistant is $17,717 to $26,149 as of December 2010. This average includes part-time teachers working in schools K through 12, childcare and day care organizations and non-profit children's services.

    Certification

    • Completing training in education or other relevant fields can have a bearing on a part-time teacher's salary. If you have an elementary teacher certification, you can earn a salary range of $17,561 to $31,538, or if you have a teacher certification you may earn between $18,391 and $27,748. A teacher assistant trained in CPR earns a salary range of between $12,000 and $21,990, while one with certification in first aid techniques might earn between $15,066 and $27,847.

    Education

    • The level of education a part-time teacher has achieved will also affect his salary. While an assistant teacher with a high school diploma earns between $13,089 and $19,527, but with an associate's degree you can earn much higher at up to $31,000. A part-time teacher who has earned a bachelor's degree can earn more than $34,000.

    Location

    • As with full-time teachers, the average salary of a part-time teacher varies between states. According to PayScale, California was the highest paying state as of December 2010 with a salary range of $16,381 to $30,125. New Jersey comes in second with a salary that peaks at $29,694 and New York ranks third at up to $28,153.
