How to Care for a Teak Garden
- 1). Fill the bowl full of warm or tepid water, and place the seeds inside. Allow the seeds to soak for 12 hours, which is how long it takes the seeds to shed the dormant shell. This treating method also allows the seeds to begin germination directly after sowing and lessens the chances of having "dud" seeds.
- 2). Remove the seeds from the bowl of water and sit them on a paper towel outside in the sunlight for 12 hours. This ritual should be repeated every day for two weeks, about the same time daily.
- 3). Use the spade or shovel to dig holes a minimum of 10 feet apart and at least 2 inches deep. This will allow the seeds to have ample room for germination and will also give plenty of room for the roots to take hold as the tree grows.
- 4). Place the seeds in the holes, then cover the seeds with 1 inch of dirt and 1 inch of peat. Then place a handful of sand on top of the peat. This will help the teak trees to hold water for germination.
