How to Comfortably Wear Stilettos
- 1). Soak and moisturize your feet regularly to diminish some of the unease that comes with wearing stilettos. Nail salons have superb foot-soaking treatments that help get rid of the extra dead skin on the soles of your feet. If you cannot afford frequent trips to the nail salon, invest in your own foot spa for the home. Conair and Homedics sell foot spas for less than $40, as of 2011.
- 2). Choose a good-quality brand of shoes. Pick one designed for the comfort of a woman's soles in addition to having a fashionable style and height. Brands like Calvin Klein, Soft Shoes, J. Renee, and Stuart Weitzman sell heels that have supportive insoles already embedded into the shoe. Some of these heels are pricey, but can be well worth the expense.
- 3). Choose the right shoe size. Sometimes women purchase shoes that are too narrow, tight, or small for their feet. Find out your shoe measurements before shoe shopping and do your research of the brand's shoe dimensions. Remember that your shoes need to be broken in before wearing them out on the town.
- 4). Choose your stilettos carefully. The shoes come in a variety of toe shapes, heel heights and shapes. A 3-1/2-inch heel, for example, is very different than a 4-inch heel. The inch height is very important due to the pounds per square inch ratio. Depending on your size and height, your weight exerts pressure on the heel when walking.
Some stilettos are pointed while others have a rounded toe. It's recommended that women select a shoe that is a half-size larger if wearing a pointy-toe stiletto. Stilettos can have wedge, chunky or skinny heels. All of these traits affect the comfort level of the shoes.
