Vinegar & Dishwashing Liquid for Cleaning Oven Grills
- Apply vinegar directly to a clean cloth and use the cloth to clean the interior of the oven as well as the grills. If there are burnt-on food deposits or spills, dampen a cleaning sponge with vinegar and use the sponge to scrub the surface clean. The vinegar will also help neutralize odors in the oven.
- If you do not care for the smell of vinegar, combine 1 part vinegar with ½ part warm water in a spray bottle and use the bottle to spray the oven grill prior to cleaning. Alternatively, combine lemon juice and vinegar in a bottle to create a cleaning mixture. While this will not entirely get rid of the vinegar smell, it will reduce the smell and allow the cleaning power of the vinegar to help remove food debris and odor.
- Soak the oven grill in a sink or large pan filled with dishwashing liquid and warm water. Allow the grill to soak for 15 minute or more, then scrub the grill clean. Rinse well and dry the grill. The grease-fighting action of the dishwashing liquid will help clean the grill.
- Dampen a cleaning cloth or sponge with water, then add a drop or two of dishwashing liquid to scrub the inside of the oven and the grill surface. The water will help activate the dishwashing liquid, and you can use the cloth or sponge to clean the entire oven interior.
