How do I Use Cloth to Make a Ceiling in the Basement?
- 1). Install curtain rods lining adjacent walls of your basement. These will hold the fabric sheets that will make up the ceiling so install them as close to where the wall meets the ceiling as possible.
- 2). Purchase some lightweight fabric long enough to cover your basement ceiling. When you measure, add about 3 feet to each measurement to allow the fabric to hang loosely when it is installed.
- 3). Sew curtain pockets on either end of your fabric with the sewing machine. Curtain pockets should be 2 inches wide when finished.
- 4). Hang the fabric from one wall to the other on the curtain rods using the previously sewn pockets. This will cover the basement ceiling with aesthetically pleasing fabric.
- 5). If there are any lighting fixtures on the basement ceiling, cut a hole in the fabric for them to come through.
