Vishu Kani It is one of the main festivals of Kerala.
Vishu is celebrated in the month of April.
In respect to the ancient traditional Malayalam calendar it is the 1st day of the Medam.
The main event of the Vishu celebration is the 'Kani- Kanal'.
Arranging all type of Fruits, Vegetables, New Dress, lightened Lamp(Nilavilakku), Flowers, some kind of cereals are kept in big brass bowl to prepare Kani.
Kani konna flower, is the Keral's national flower is the main one for the kani.
Following this arrangement, a mirror(Aranmula Kannadi) and a ornamented statue of God Krishna are set aside.
Early sunrise on the Vishu day, the head of the house sees the Kani and then the youngers of the family follows.
Children's are brought blind folded to see the Kani.
Then the elders in the family give money to the youngsters as 'Vishu Kaineettam' and give blessings to them.
According to the Hindu beliefs, the kani is depended in all over the year.
Onam Onam is the very important and well known festival of Kerala.
All Keralites are celebrating without thinking about their caste or religion.
also Onam is celebrated with lots of dedication and jollity.
It comes in the Malayalam month of Chingam (Aug-Sept).
Its a 10 days celebration, started on Atham day of the Chingam month.
Onam is the harvest festival of Kerala.
According to tradition, Onam is celebrated to memorialize the home coming of Mahabali, the king who ruled over Kerala in the age of plenty and was pushed down to the Patala by Lord Vishnu in the form of Vamana.
The image of Thrikkakara Appan (Vishnu in the form of Vamana) is created in every Hindu home during the Onam celebration.
Children go around and collecting flowers and creating a beautiful Atham, means a design which is decorated with flowers in the front portion of their houses in different pattern and designs.
Ladies preparing different snacks like Achappam, Murukku, Munthirikothu, Alanga, Upperi etc also a very luxurious lunch is preparing for all the family with more than one typeof Payasam.
Onam festival is an example of religious harmony and provides for family get-together.
Navratri The Navratri celebration is identified by distinctive names in different parts of India.
It is Durga Puja of Bengal, Dussehra of Bombay and the Saraswati Puja and the Ayudha Puja of the south.
The Navratri pageant runs over 9 days.
The last three days of navratri are most important.
The final three days are referred to as Durga Ashtami, Mahanavami, and Vijaya Dasami.
On the evening of the Durga Ashtami day, there may be the ceremony known as 'Puja Vayppu'.
It includes adorning a room fantastically, illuminating it with many lights and arranging on a platform, raised in the course of the room, the issues necessary for performing Saraswati Puja.
Over the past three days of Puja, all types of studying and business come to a stand still.
