Try as you may, but you will likely be unsuccessful in avoiding carnivorous temptation in this new life of yours as a vegan. Though, when you think about it why would you want to with all that there is to gain from such a blessed event? Sure, that marinated, freshly made, extra crispy, hand-battered fried chicken drumstick has your name written all over it as does that heaping scoop of double chocolate chip fudge ice cream. Nonetheless, youre unshakable, unconquerable, just short of herculean.

Okay, so I may have embellished a little, but thats at least what you aspired to be when you set out to be vegan right? If so, here are some tips on how you can realize that goal. No matter how tempting the flesh, the power to overcome lies within you and these tips will help you do just that.

1. Think about your health - When you chose to be vegan you knew that doing so would improve your health. So, in the interest of upholding the integrity of that decision simply pass on the animal flesh. Then, enjoy the comfort of knowing that in doing so you have further extended your life and improved your health.
2. Be a leader - Even when you think they arent, meat-eaters are always watching you, but are very much in admiration of your strong will and determination. They appreciate that you are committed to something that you are passionate about and that despite what the majority says you are unwilling to concede. That said, you are now a leader so use your new position of influence for good and go forth and spread the goodness of veganism.
3. Use this as an opportunity for growth - Temptation, like most things can be looked at from various angles. However, for the purposes of this discussion we will view it as an invaluable opportunity. Being tempted by food actually enhances the dynamic, compelling, heroic individual that being vegan has helped you grow to be. Sure, the early phases of veganism are tough and every temptation faced only amplifies the difficulty of it. However, this phase also inspires growth within you. It forces you to challenge, confront and conquer all that you once yielded to. So still your anxiety and enjoy this opportunity for empowerment and growth.
4. Walk away - Yes, its that simple. Just walk away and know that you wont be a chump for doing so. Life is about good feelings and the expansion of those good feelings. So, if being around certain things or people does not feel good then turn to things and people that do. Most likely, it was plant-based foods that invoked good feelings within you, so turn to them now for more of the same.
5. Eat a plant-based food instead - Provided some are available, indulge in a heart-healing, life-giving, aromatic plant-based dish. Not only will doing so satisfy your appetite, but it will also cure your craving and your body will thank you.
