How to Create Easy Flower Arrangements

    Vase Flowers

    • 1). Gather your supplies. You'll need a clear glass vase, fresh flowers, flower preservative, florist marbles or polished stones for this first easy arrangement.

    • 2). Cut your flowers in a dome shape with the larges fullest flowers in the center. Remove all leaves that will fall below the rim of the vase. The leaves left soaking in the water can cause toxins that will keep your flowers from lasting as long.

    • 3). Place the flowers in the vase. While holding onto the arrangement structure, pour in the florist marbles or polished stones. This will hold them in place.

    • 4). Mix together a packet of floral preservative (comes with the flowers at the florist or grocery store) into a quart of water (or per packet instructions). Pour the water into the vase.

    • 5). Check the vases water level each day. When it falls near the bottom of any of the cut stems, it's time to add water to the floral arrangement.

    Pumpkin Flowers

    • 1). Cut a hole in the top of a pumpkin (in the fall) or side of a watermelon (in the summer). Hollow out the fruit.

    • 2). Soak a piece of oasis (floral arrangement material) in a mixture of water and floral preservative, until it is saturated.

    • 3). Attach the oasis to the bottom of the hollowed fruit with floral pins, by poking them through the sides and into the bottom of the pumpkin.

    • 4). Place your tallest flowers into the oasis, at the center of the arrangement. They should go in easily.

    • 5). Cut the rest of the flower stems at graduated heights and place them in the oasis. Add stems of greenery, if you like, between the flower stems. When the arrangement is full you are done. Check the moistness of the oasis, with your fingers, each day. When it becomes dry, add water to the floral arrangement.
