Specifications on the 1974 Chevelle Malibu Classic
- The Chevrolet Chevelle was a mid-size coupe that was also produced in sedan and wagon models. The Chevelle was first introduced in 1964 and was manufactured until 1977. These cars were some of Chevrolet's best selling and among those manufactured in 1974 was the Chevelle Malibu Classic. The Classic had a different exterior look than the base model that included a redesigned grill and different headlight patterns.
- The Malibu Classic was a powerful car. While the standard Malibu model came with a V6 standard, buyers of the Malibu Classic received a 350 cubic-inch V8 engine that delivered 145 horsepower. Optional upgrades included a turbo hydramatic 5.0-liter, 400 cubic-inch V8 engine with 165 horsepower. An even more powerful upgrade was available as well in the 400 cubic-inch V8 engine that cranked out 175 horsepower. These were the same types of engines used in Chevrolet's other sport performance vehicle, the Monte Carlo.
- The Malibu Classic was produced in a two-door coupe model, a four-door sedan or a five-door wagon. Exterior paint colors available were tuxedo black, bronze metallic, medium red metallic, silver metallic, dark taupe metallic and antique white. Interior colors included medium red metallic, golden brown metallic and antique white.
- Electric windows, power seat adjuster and power door locks were available on the Malibu Classic. These were considered expensive upgrades to the model, which added to its luxurious characteristics of the time. The rear windows were the traditional swing-out hinge types. Air conditioning was also available on all the models as well as a push-button AM/FM radio with tape deck and cruise control.
