Arrange Folders with the iPod Touch

    • 1). Touch the icon of an app on the iPod Touch's home screen, and hold it until it starts jiggling. The other apps on the screen will also jiggle, as will any folders.

    • 2). Drag one jiggling app icon onto another app icon, and a folder will be created automatically containing them. The folder will have a name that reflects the category of apps they are in, such as "Productivity." Tap the name of the folder and type a new name if you want to change it. You can drag icons of other apps into the folder, and each folder can hold 12 icons.

    • 3). Touch a jiggling folder and hold it while dragging it up, down, right or left on the screen to change its position. For example, you might want to put the folder of your business planning apps at the top left of the screen, and put a folder of language translation apps in the bottom right corner.

    • 4). Touch a jiggling folder and hold it while dragging to the right or left edge of the home screen, and keep dragging it until it moves over to the next screen. As you drag an icon to the side of the screen, new home screens are created, up to a total of 11. Each screen can hold 16 app icons or folders.

    • 5). Press the "Home" button to stop the icons and folders from jiggling after you have rearranged them, to save your changes.

Arrange Folders with iTunes on a Computer

    • 1). Launch iTunes, Apple's free application for listening to music and managing your iPod Touch. You are instructed to download and install iTunes when you set up the iPod Touch.

    • 2). Plug one end of the included USB cable into the iPod Touch, and plug the other end into a USB port on your computer. The icon of your iPod Touch will appear in the left pane of the iTunes window.

    • 3). Click on the icon of your iPod Touch.

    • 4). Click on the "Apps" tab at the top of the iTunes window. You will see a window showing your iPod Touch's home screen, just as it appears on the device. Click on a folder and drag it to move to another screen.

    • 5). Click "Apply" when you are done moving folders, and iTunes will sync with your iPod Touch so the folders are arranged the same way on your device.
