How to Install a Wheel Hub Assembly for a 2000 Silverado 4X4
- 1). Install the replacement seal into the center of the steering knuckle using the seal installer tool. Then install the top of the steering knuckle to the upper control arm ball joint using the 3/8-inch ratchet and socket. Torque the bolt down on the ball joint with the torque wrench to 74 ft/lbs. Install the replacement cotter pin into the nut using the needle-nose pliers.
- 2). Bolt the splash shield to the steering knuckle with the 3/8-inch ratchet and socket. Install the replacement wheel hub assembly onto the steering knuckle and torque the bolts to 133 ft/lbs using the torque wrench. Attach the tie rod to the steering knuckle using the 3/8-inch ratchet and socket.
- 3). Slide the thrust washer onto the center of the axle in the middle of the hub, then install the axle nut. Torque this bolt down to 165 ft/lbs using the torque wrench. Install the nut retainer then the cotter pin using the needle-nose pliers .
- 4). Slide the rotor over the hub. Install the brake caliper onto the steering knuckle using the 3/8-inch ratchet and socket. Install the front tires with the tire iron, then lower the Silverado off of the jack stands using the jack.
