How to Make an Undercut in Wood

    • 1). Tilt the blade on the table saw to 2-degrees. Use the gauge on the side of the saw that measures degrees of tilt. If the degrees are not listed in single digits, give the handle that tilts the blade two full turns counterclockwise.

    • 2). Lay the wood between the blade and the fence face down. Slide the fence over to slightly pinch the wood between the blade and the fence. Lock the fence down and pull the board out from the back. Use a pencil to mark the back of the board with an "X" so that you can identify it.

    • 3). Turn on the saw. Feed the board into the saw face down with your right hand while you hold it tight against the fence with your left hand.

    • 4). Push it all the way through the saw. The outside edge will be undercut. If it doesn't trim the edge completely adjust the fence 1/32-inch closer to the blade and run the board through again until it trims it completely.

    • 5). Flip the board over to use it. The undercut side should always be facing down.
