How to Take Bleach Stains Off Green Shoes
- 1). Prepare powdered green fabric dye on the stove in a pot filled with water and salt, following the measurements, times and temperatures indicated in the manufacturer's directions. Double the amount of green dye if the shoes are bright or dark green.
- 2). Place a piece of scrap fabric in the dye for several minutes. Remove the scrap and compare the green color to the color of the shoes. Adjust the color, if necessary. To brighten the green color, add a bit of yellow. Add blue if the shoes are bluish-green. Dull the green dye if it is too bright by adding a little red.
- 3). Blot the bleached areas of the shoes with water to dampen the fabric.
- 4). Paint the bleach spots with warm dye, using a small, round paintbrush. Continue saturating the spots with dye until you receive the necessary depth of green.
- 5). Wash the shoes with gentle laundry detergent and dry. Heat extra dye and paint the bleach spots again if, after washing and drying, the first application ends up too pale.
