    • Train traffic games build their gameplay around the organization and operation of railroad tracks. Players are rewarded for organizing tracks in such a way that the greatest amount of train traffic moves smoothly and efficiently through a variety of routes and stations. Of course, the player's first priority is to prevent train wrecks, a more difficult proposition than it sounds as trains heading in opposite directions must often share the same one-lane track.

    Train Traffic Control

    • In Train Traffic Control, you are in charge of the switches outside a single train station. The game begins with Newcastle station, which has only two connections to manage and two platforms, making it fairly simple to keep the trains running smoothly on time. However, things get more difficult in later levels, as the player may have traffic coming in from four or five different tracks at once towards a station that has only a few platforms. The player has traffic lights and switches under his control, but each train has a tight schedule and a different destination. It will require fast thinking to keep everything running on time, without accidents, to its correct destination. Train Traffic Control is a free Flash game that runs within the user's web browser.

    Polar Express

    • In Polar Express, the player directs a single train around a small city near the North Pole trying to pick up and drop off as many packages as possible. There are dozens of switches in the city and miles of twisting train tracks, so getting the train to its destination can be a challenge, as the routes from place to place are rarely straight-forward. Polar Express is a free Flash game that runs within your web browser.

    Railroad Madness

    • Railroad Madness is an iPhone/iPod Touch application that, as of July 2010, costs $0.99 in the Apple App Store. Trains begin at the top of the screen and must reach a specific track at the bottom of the screen. Players control nearly a dozen criss-crossed switches and must ensure that the trains reach the correct station at the end of the line. Trains have schedules, and crashes must be avoided. Players will need to coordinate trains so that they reach their desired stations safely and at different times.

    Rails Across America

    • Rails Across America is a fast-paced railroad strategy game designed for fast multiplayer games. It is heavily inspired by games like Railroad Tycoon and Transport Tycoon that mix train traffic management with business management. However, unlike these games which can take days to complete, Rails Across America levels are designed to be finished in only an hour. It is a PC games for Windows operating system.
