In recent years, Nokia has achieved great success with their N series of handsets which include the more recent N97 and N98 handsets.
The N8 is the latest addition to this successful range, and looks set to be the most popular model to date thanks to some very high specification features.
The Nokia N8 certainly scores very highly in the looks department.
It sticks to a very minimalist look with just a single button and the screen dominating the front of the handset.
The range of colours that the handset is available in will appeal to people who are looking for a phone that looks a little different from the norm.
At 135 grammes the phone is relatively lightweight, yet unlike the Samsung Galaxy S where this makes the device feel cheaply made, the Nokia N8 maintains a sense of superb build quality.
The screen on the phone measures 3.
5 inches and is constructed with a special type of material named Gorilla glass.
This is a very scratch resistant material, especially useful in these modern days of 18 month and 24 month contracts.
Another plus point of the display is Nokias wise decision to move away from TFT technology and incorporate the newer AMOLED system instead.
This offers better picture quality as well as improved legibility in sunlight.
An accelerometer chip performs auto rotate functions.
This is particularly useful when using the screens virtual keypad, which offers a well laid out Qwerty variety when in landscape mode.
Ask anybody what is the most impressive feature on the Nokia N8, and most peoples answer would be the camera.
Not only does the snapper capture images in a staggering 12 million pixel quality, but perhaps more impressive is the quality optics Nokia have chosen to fit on this model.
The optics can make as much difference to the quality of a shot as the resolution, and the Carl Zeiss variety used here are world renowned.
In terms of using the phone, some handy features make not only using it a pleasure, but also further enhance the picture quality.
The Xenon flash is far superior to standard or even LED varieties, and produces effective results even in the poorest light.
A more common yet just as useful feature is the autofocus, ensuring clear snaps every time.
Its quite easy to look at the Nokia N8 and not see past the brilliant camera.
But delve a little deeper and you will find a great quality mobile phone which boast an improved Symbian operating system, stylish design and great all round functionality.
