    Determining Color Scheme

    • Select a color scheme on ICIPaints.com or use the color visualizer on Sherwin-Williams.com to help your child create the color scheme from his imagination. You can print out color samples or stop by a retail store to get paint sample cards to take with you to shop for bedding, draperies and other accessories.

    Contemporary Look

    • Choose bold colors for your child's bedroom if she enjoys a funky, contemporary look. For instance, if your daughter has a brightly colored polka dot bedspread, you can accent the wall colors with a focal color from one of the polka dots or even paint each individual wall in different shades evident in the bedding.

    Nature Colors

    • Select outdoorsy colors if your kid is a sports enthusiast or a nature buff. ICI earth tones, such as taupe, moss green or a golden sunset shade, can be coordinated with apricot, burgundy, teal or beige tones.

    Coordinating Existing Colors

    • Match the wall color with the color scheme already in use in the room; for instance, if the draperies are a cool color, such as baby blue, use other cool shades to add to the look, such as pale yellow, white or a soft pink. Alternately, warm tones such as brown, orange-reds, or a muted gold will coordinate well with ICI colors in camel, muted lime green or rust.

    Seaside Look

    • Aim for an ocean-inspired theme by using ICI's ebb and flow color combinations. Seashell pink, silvery blue, soft aqua and deep marine-looking blue-green shades will give the room the appearance of an under-the-sea haven.
