How to Assemble Magnets & Crafts
- 1). Choose the appropriate magnet. Use craft magnets for lightweight paper or fabric crafts. Craft magnets can be easily cut with scissors. Craft magnets are available in small individual sizes or you can purchase a large magnet sheet or a magnet strip roll. You can cut these and make multiple magnets. Use ceramic or neodymium magnets for heavier crafts that use glass, beads or wood. Ceramic and neodymium magnets cannot be cut.
- 2). Cut the magnet to size, if necessary, and if you use craft magnets. You can measure the craft or you can place the craft on the magnet and trace around it with a pencil. The magnet should be smaller than the back of the craft so that it will not be visible from the front.
- 3). Remove the backing over the adhesive side of the magnet if you purchased self-stick magnets.
- 4). Apply glue to the magnet. Use enough glue to coat the entire back side of the magnet once pressure is applied, but not so much that glue will ooze out. Even if your magnet is the self-stick kind, it is a good idea to use glue to ensure maximum strength.
- 5). Position the craft onto the magnet. Apply firm pressure for 20 to 30 seconds.
- 6). Leave the glue to cure for 24 hours.
