    Grout Sponge

    • Grout Sponges

Grout haze can easily be cleaned up using a wet grout sponge. Shortly after grouting, use a wet grout sponge to clean up the grout haze that forms. You may have to do this two or three times over the next 24 hours as the grout sets. Do a final clean up with the grout sponge before you seal the grout.

    Scouring Pad

    • Scouring Pads

Shortly after laying your tile, clean up the grout haze using a scouring pad and a solution of 5 parts vinegar and 1 part water. Often, this is sufficient to get rid of grout haze. If not, use a scouring cleanser or grout poultice and pad, which are all available at your hardware store.

    Grout Haze Remover

Purchase a commercial grout haze remover from a home improvement or hardware store. Follow the directions on the product label to determine the appropriate water-to-remover mixing ratio for your particular grouting job. Wear eye protection and gloves when using grout haze remover, which is toxic.
Use a wet terry cloth towel to apply the grout haze remover solution to the grout, wiping diagonally across the laid tile. Wipe up excess remover using a clean, damp terry cloth towel.

    Wet/Dry Vacuum

    • For more stubborn grout haze, use a wet/dry vacuum with a grout haze remover. Apply the haze cleaner over your tile and then suck it up with the wet/dry vacuum. The haze cleaner will draw the dirt from your grout as it is sucked up by the vacuum cleaner. Rinse off the grout haze cleaner after 24 hours.

    Sulfamic Acid Crystals

Purchase sulfamic acid crystals and follow the manufacturer's to dilute it with water. Apply the solution to the laid tile using a mop or sponge. Remove the grout haze using a wet rag. Sulfamic acid crystals are especially well-suited for cleaning grout haze from natural stone, such as granite and slate, which tend to be acid resistant.
