DIY Wood Crafts
- 1). Measure and mark with the pencil on the length of pine shelving at 18 inches for the bottom of the book rack. Measure two more pieces that are 6 inches.
- 2). Use the saw to cut the three pieces, to those measurements, for your book rack. Use sandpaper to smooth the edges.
- 3). Stand the short pieces of wood on ends and lay the longer piece across them.
- 4). Hammer two nails, one through either end of the short piece, to attach one side of the book rack to the bottom part. Repeat with the other side.
- 5). Stain or paint the book rack as desired.
- 6). Cut a piece of felt to match the bottom of the book rack. Glue the felt to the bottom to protect your surface.
- 1). Purchase a pre-cut plaque, a wood burning tool and a wood burning design kit of your choice.
- 2). Sand the front surface of your plaque and wipe it off with a damp rag to remove all traces of sawdust.
- 3). Lay your tracing paper, with the carbon side down, on your plaque. Center your design on top of the tracing paper. Trace over the lines of your design with the stylus to transfer the outline to your plaque. Remove the paper.
- 4). Trace the design using the wood burning tool. Completely go over the entire design and shade in any necessary areas.
