How to Make a Puff Paint Sun Catcher
- 1). Print out the pattern or image you want for your sun catcher. This design will be a black outline of a figure, symbol or photograph. Visit the A4 Stained Glass Patterns website to find more than 100 free patterns. You may also freehand the design you want to use.
- 2). Place the printed image under your acrylic sheet, and cut the sheet to fit the size of your design. This will be the actual size of your sun catcher. Use puffy paint to trace your design. Use copious amounts of paint so that the design can be clearly seen from a distance, but be careful not to let the paint run. It can be difficult to clean up lines if they smudge. If that happens, use a cotton swap to wipe up excess paint. If necessary, you can always go back after the initial paint application is dry to add more. Be sure to connect all lines of the design with the paint. Let dry for several hours.
- 3). Color in the unpainted parts of the acrylic sheet with marker. The ink may be wet when first applied, so let it dry so there is no smudging.
- 4). Use a holepunch to punch a hole in the top of your acrylic sheet. Tie a ribbon through this hole by which to hang your sun catcher.
