How to Stage a Kitchen for an Open House
- 1). When viewing an open house, buyers have trouble seeing past clutter. You want buyers to see the bare bones of your kitchen, not your collection of salt and pepper shakers. When you stage your kitchen, take time to pack up items that you don’t use on a daily basis. Place other items inside cabinets.
- 2). Clean the room from top to bottom. Scrub the tops of your cabinets and refrigerator. While you may not think about looking in these areas, some buyers do.
- 3). A dark-red kitchen may be bold and inspiring, but some buyers may be turned off by such a choice. This means the buyer will walk away, no matter how great the kitchen is. By painting the room a neutral color, you’re more likely to get a better offer on your home.
- 4). Colorful accessories add brightness and cheer to a room. Before an open house, place a white bowl filled with green apples on the table and kitchen counter. These pops of color will draw the buyer’s eyes around the room.

That’s why it’s important to take advantage of low-cost treatments. For example, purchase appliance paint or stainless steel sheets.
